General Features

What is the “Show Contact Information” button?

The “Show Contact Information” button allows the person you sent your digital business card to, the option to view and save the contact details.

What is a vCard?

The vCard contains all the information stored in your profile, except for social media links and other URLs.

Your social media channels and other links can be easily displayed by accessing your digital business card, ensuring the links are always up to date.

Social media channels and other links are intentionally not included in the vCard because we cannot ensure they will import correctly on all devices. For example, multiple links only work on iOS devices. In Outlook, only one link can be saved. To ensure functionality on all devices, only the link to the digital business card is included.

What is the “Share” button on the business card for?

The “Share” button appears at the top right of your digital business card. It allows a person who has opened your digital business card to share it further.

You can disable this feature in the settings.

What happens to special characters in the VCF?

If you use umlauts or special characters in your digital business card, they are automatically converted when the vCard is saved.

This ensures that the VCF file is saved correctly on all operating systems and devices. Specifically, Outlook versions on Windows up to 2016 use a proprietary Windows character encoding rather than the standard UTF-8 encoding.

You can disable the automatic conversion in the settings of your digital business card. If this option is selected, the vCard will display characters like ä, ü, ß, and others. However, on some systems, the vCard may not save correctly, resulting in garbled text instead of these characters.

How can I exchange contact information using the oneVcard app?

Open the oneVcard app and tap your digital business card on the dashboard. The QR code will be displayed. Alternatively, tap the three dots and then select “Show QR Code.”
